Scalability
In those cases where a single server is not sufficient to support the user population, the GridGuard™ Virtual Appliance scales both horizontally and vertically.
Vertical scaling can be accomplished by simply increasing the resources available to the virtual appliance. Increasing the processors and memory assigned to the virtual appliance will increase the transaction throughput.
Horizontal scaling can be accomplished by configuring multiple GridGuard™ Appliances in a cluster. With each additional node added to the cluster, there is the additional overhead of synchronizing the data between the nodes. So the marginal improvement in performance with adding additional servers to a cluster decreases with each node. That being said, adding a second node to a standalone server, almost doubles (200%) the throughput of the system. With a third node, the total system performance increases to about 250 - 260%.
