First Boot

Instructions for first time boot up of the GridGuard Virtual Appliance

Boot up Machine

Once the virtual appliance has been created on the hypervisor of your choice, boot up the virtual appliance.

Login with default credentials

Enter username: gridadmin

Click OK

Enter password: gridguard

Click OK

License Agreement

The first time you login, the license agreement is shown.

Tab to page down and get to the bottom of the agreement

Accept License Agreement

Once you get to the bottom of the screen, type 'YES' to accept the agreement.

You must accept the agreement to proceed. If you do not accept the agreement, the virtual appliance will shutdown gracefully.

Specify Network Settings

System will now prompt you to specify the following network configuration options :

Static IP, Net mask, Default Gateway IP, host name, DNS Servers (Primary, Secondary and Tertiary), and Domain

Once the settings have been specified, system will prompt you to confirm if settings are correct.

If they are correct, respond Y; else respond N and specify the settings again.

Once the settings have been accepted, the system will update the necessary files and generate default SSL certificates for the device.

You will now be asked to set the root password for the appliance.

The root id does not have the ability to SSH to the device. You will need to SSH to the device as 'gridadmin' and sudo to root to perform actions as the root id.

Note: Please make sure to save this password in a secure location as anyone with access to this password, can compromise the security of the appliance.

You will now be asked to set the password for the 'gridadmin' id. This is the id that will be used for accessing the virtual appliance using SSH.

This is the password that will be used to access the browser based 'Administration and Configuration Console'

Note: Please make sure to save this password in a secure location as anyone with access to this password, can compromise the security of the appliance.

Reboot Appliance

At this point, you will be prompted to reboot the appliance to apply all the configuration settings that have been specified.

Press any key to reboot the appliance

Access the Administration & Configuration Console (ACC)

Access the Administration & Configuration Console (ACC)

Open browser and navigate to the following URL : https://<gridguard server ip>:8443/admin/

You will be prompted with a warning stating that the SSL certificate is a self-signed certificate. Accept the warning.

You will now be prompted to enter a  username and password to login.

Enter User Name: gridadmin

Enter Password:  This is the password you specified in the 'Set the gridadmin ACC password' step above

Click 'Log In'

 

 

Setup NTP Servers

Setup NTP Servers
  1. Select the 'System Management' option
  2. Select the 'NTP' tab
  3. If you do not want to use the default NTP servers, delete them as necessary
  4. Click the 'Add NTP Server' button to add a new NTP servers

Apply system upgrades

Contact SyferLock Support to determine if there are any system upgrades that are available.

If there are upgrades, download the upgrade package and follow the instructions provided with the package.

This completes the basic configuration of the GridGuard Virtual Appliance.
